ABOUT THIS SITE
For those of you new to this website, welcome! Unlimited imaginations are the hallmarks of great minds.
This website and Kleiner's Korner mailings list sites of happenings in the world that do not make the front pages.
As a student of Ramtha's School of Enlightenment, my intent has been to provide recent news from the mainstream media that support what we have been taught by our teacher Ramtha.
"The four cornerstones of Ramtha's teachings are:
- The statement "You are God"
- The directive to make known the unknown
- The concept that consciousness and energy create the nature of reality
- The challenge to conquer yourself,"
quoting Ramtha.com.
Bottom line: We are all Creators of our reality.
Reports from the fields of science, quantum physics, medicine, history, the environment, Earth changes, and humanity are among topics covered each week that provide corroboration to the studies of Ramtha's School . In communicating with students the world-over, these pages are then passed along to our friends and families for them to read for themselves stories we find of interest.
Never take my word for anything here. Use your own mind to discern what you will from your own readings.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK "Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint."
Mark Twain (1835-1910) Pen name for Samuel Langhorne Clemens, an American author and humorist. Mark Twain Quotations, Newspaper Collections, & Related Resources © Barbara Schmidt:

1. BERNANKE'S OPTIONS DOWN TO COMFORTING WORDS" "Economy is teetering and central bank's usual tools aren't working... Chairman of the Federal Reserve Ben Bernanke's task isn't confined to restoring public confidence. Equally vital, he must forge consensus within the fractious Fed itself.
The U.S. economy appears to be stalling. Yet the Federal Reserve has run out of simple steps it can take to revive it.
That's the test facing Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke... Without any easy options left, Bernanke must try to prevent another recession by persuading people and businesses to feel confident enough about the future to spend more today," by Jeannine Aversa on MSNBC. Ed. Note: While Bernanke's words boosted the stock market on Friday, he has only a few options left to stem the growing tide, none that will build the public's confidence. Stay tuned, this could be a rough Autumn!

2. "DIGITAL OVERLOAD: YOUR BRAIN ON GADGETS" "The average person today consumes almost three times as much information as what the typical person consumed in 1960, according to research at the University of California, San Diego...
'It's an onslaught of information coming in today,' says Times [New York Times] technology journalist Matt Richtel... Richtel has spent the past several months researching the toll technology and "information juggling" are taking on our lives — and our brains. His series "Your Brain On Computers" describes how multitasking on computers and digital gadgets affects the way people process information — and how quickly they can then become distracted," quoting National Public Radio (NPR):

3. "GOING GREEN: RECYCLING BOTTLES INTO SOCCER SHIRTS" "I don't know how recycling works. Or how fabric gets made. But when I found out that nine World Cup teams are wearing uniforms made out of old plastic bottles, I was agog...
The Nike outfits worn by the U.S. team as well as Brazil's are made solely out of bottles — more specifically, bottles from landfills in Japan and Taiwan. I tried on a Brazil jersey, which Nike retails for $70. The company touts it as being lighter, sturdier, breathier and all those other Nike-ier things than any soccer jersey ever, but I was just impressed that it was made out of plastic," quoting Joel Stein in TIME Magazine last June.

The animal had all the markings of a Thomson's gazelle (a type of antelope) — but, like that old song from "Sesame Street," one of these kids was not like the others. This animal was covered with a strange, thick coat of hair, in stark contrast to the sleek Thomson's gazelles in its company," by Andrea Mustain from OurAmazingPlanet on MSNBC:

QUOTE OF THE WEEK “Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one.”

1. "ONTARIO PARENTS SAY SCHOOL WI-FI NETWORKS MAKE KIDS SICK" "Parents in the town of Barrie, Ontario, Canada, want their school district to disable its Wi-Fi network because, they claim, it's making their kids sick. According to a report by The Canadian Press, parents say that, after the district went wireless, kids from 14 different schools displayed symptoms -- including headaches, dizziness, nausea, faster heart rates, memory loss, trouble concentrating, skin rashes, hyperactivity, night sweats and insomnia. Rodney Palmer and other members of the Simcoe County Safe School Committee say the kids don't display these symptoms at home. "I'm not saying it's because of the Wi-Fi because we don't know yet, but I've pretty much eliminated every other possible source," Palmer told the Press," by Caleb Johnson in SWITCHED.

2. "MIND-CONTROLLING PARASITES DATE BACK MILLIONS OF YEARS" "Mind control by parasite sounds like the stuff of science fiction, but not only have scientists revealed that it is real across a range of animals including perhaps humans they now even have fossil evidence suggesting it has taken place for millions of years...
'I thought it was a very, very long shot to find such a fossil, but indeed, as luck would have it, two paleobotanists, Conrad Labandeira at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington and Torsten Wappler at the Steinmann Institute in Bonn, were sitting around wondering how that particular damage type might be explained,' said researcher David Hughes, a behavioral ecologist at Harvard University," by Charles Q. 5. "DOES THE PAST EXIST YET? EVIDENCE SUGGESTS YOUR PAST ISN'T SET IN STONE" "Recent discoveries require us to rethink our understanding of history. 'The histories of the universe,' said renowned physicist Stephen Hawking 'depend on what is being measured, contrary to the usual idea that the universe has an objective observer-independent history.'
Is it possible we live and die in a world of illusions? Physics tells us that objects exist in a suspended state until observed, when they collapse in to just one outcome. Paradoxically, whether events happened in the past may not be determined until sometime in your future -- and may even depend on actions that you haven't taken yet," from Robert Lanza, M.D. in The Huffington Post:

The Marsili volcano, which has an active magma chamber, also has areas losing magnetism and a large amount of weak and permeable rocks supporting it, which researchers said means that the walls could essentially crumble at any time with the right seismic activity.
And if that happens – the result could be catastrophic," from CNN in this March 30, 2010 story.

1. 'BIG BROTHER' IS CLOSING IN EVEN MORE A. "Sites Feed Personal Details To New Tracking Industry" "The largest U.S. websites are installing new and intrusive consumer-tracking technologies on the computers of people visiting their sites—in some cases, more than 100 tracking tools at a time—a Wall Street Journal investigation has found.
The tracking files represent the leading edge of a lightly regulated, emerging industry of data-gatherers who are in effect establishing a new business model for the Internet: one based on intensive surveillance of people to sell data about, and predictions of, their interests and activities, in real time," by Julia Angwin & Tom McGinty in the Wall Street Journal.

4. NEWS FROM THE MEDICAL WORLD A. "GROWING NEW HEARTS FROM OLD" Amanda Schaffer in Technology Review writes: "Footage from the University of Minnesota shows researcher Doris Taylor and her team engineering new hearts. The team produces scaffolds by stripping cells from animal hearts. It then seeds the scaffolds with new cells. In theory, a similar process might someday prove useful for human patients with end-stage heart disease."

"the world may have to make do with less bread this year if early warnings prove accurate. Many of the world’s largest wheat producers are struggling. Canada and Russia, especially, face disastrous harvests. Global stocks look manageable, but what if something happens to America?

| KLEINER'S KORNER DOUBLE EDITION FOR WEEKS OF JULY 26 & August 2, 2010
|
QUOTE OF THE WEEK "The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness" John Muir (1838-1914) "America's most famous and influential naturalist and conservationist, and founder of the Sierra Club." From the Sierra Club:

1. "QUARK BY QUARK, ATOM SMASHER CLOSING IN ON 'GOD PARTICLE'" "The world's biggest atom smasher has scaled up in power even faster than hoped for and may soon unlock some of the universe's deepest secrets, scientists said Monday at a top physics conference.
After a shaky start and a 14-month delay, experiments at Europe's Large Hadron Collider (LHC) have in a few months replicated discoveries it took decades to complete at the rival Tevatron accelerator in the United States.
At this pace, the more powerful LHC could begin to deliver new insights into the fundamental nature of the cosmos within months, they said," by Marlowe Hood on the Sydney Morning Herald from France's AFP:
link here .
2. "MARINE FOOD CHAIN HIT BY OCEAN GLOBAL WARMING" "The entire marine food chain is in danger of collapse because of a decline in tiny phytoplankton, which scientists are linking to climate change and rising ocean surface temperatures.
Phytoplankton are microscopic algae which float and drift near the top of the ocean. They carry out photosynthesis, converting sunlight into organic matter which then serves as the first step in the entire marine food chain.
But their numbers are declining by an average of 1 per cent a year, translating to a 40 per cent decline since 1950, according to researchers from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada.
The authors suggest rising sea surface temperatures linked to global warming are the reason for the decline, quoting UK's The Ecologist:

3. HOW PROGRAMMED ARE WE??? A. "JUST BUY IT: IMPULSIVENESS TIED TO BRAIN CHEMICAL" "Joshua Buckholtz, a researcher at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., thinks that the brains of impulsive people have too much dopamine. Dopamine is a chemical involved with many different brain functions, but in this case researchers are interested in drive. They believe high levels of dopamine are causing some individuals to behave rashly, perhaps by buying a food dehydrator they don't need. To understand how dopamine could lead to impulsive behavior, Buckholtz and the Vanderbilt group looked at the midbrain, the lower-middle bit of the brain," by Geoff Brumfiel on National Public Radio:

B. "WAL-MART WANTS TO GET INTO YOUR PANTS" "Retailer will use electronic tags to control garment inventory" "Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is putting electronic identification tags on men's clothing like jeans starting Aug. 1 as the world's largest retailer tries to gain more control of its inventory. But the move is raising eyebrows among privacy experts... The tags work by reflecting a weak radio signal to identify the product. They have long spurred privacy fears as well as visions of stores being able to scan an entire shopping cart of items at one time," from the AP on MSNBC:
link here .
4. "HANDS-ONLY CPR ENOUGH TO SAVE A LIFE, STUDIES SAY" "Experts hope findings will encourage bystanders to use simpler technique "Bystanders hoping to help emergency victims can skip the rescue breathing and go straight to hands-only CPR with good results, two new studies say...
The American Heart Association has been promoting hands-only CPR for two years, though it's not clear how much it's caught on. The new studies should encourage dispatchers and bystanders to be more aggressive about using the simpler technique," quoting Mike Stobbe for the AP:
link here .
5. "NOW YOU SEE IT, NOW YOU DON'T - AN INVISIBILITY CLOAK MADE OF GLASS" "...But who ever thought that a scientist at Michigan Technological University would be serious about building a working invisibility cloak?
That’s exactly what Elena Semouchkina, an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at Michigan Tech, is doing. She has found ways to use magnetic resonance to capture rays of visible light and route them around objects, rendering those objects invisible to the human eye.
Semouchkina and colleagues at the Pennsylvania State University, where she is also an adjunct professor, recently reported on their research in the journal Applied Physics Letters, published by the American Institute of Physics. Her co-authors were Douglas Werner and Carlo Pantano of Penn State and George Semouchkin, who works at Michigan Tech and Penn State," quoting Jennifer Donovan in Michigan Tech News:
link here .
6. NEWS FROM SPACE A. "HEFTIEST STAR DISCOVERY SHATTERS COSMIC RECORD" "At 300 times the mass of our sun, it's double the size scientists thought possible, Astronomers have discovered the most massive stars known, including one at more than 300 times the mass of our sun — double the size that scientists thought heavyweight stars could reach.
These colossal stars are millions of times brighter than the sun and shed mass through very powerful winds.
The stellar discovery, which represents the first time that these hulking stars were individually identified, could help astronomers understand the behavior of massive stars, and how large they can be at birth.
A European research team led by Paul Crowther, professor of astrophysics at the University of Sheffield in England, discovered the massive stars inside two young clusters of stars NGC 3603 and RMC 136a," quoting Denise Chow of Space.com:
link here
B. "MARS ROVER FINALLY SEES MARTIAN DUST DEVIL" "After more than six years roaming the surface of Mars, NASA's Mars rover Opportunity has spotted its first dust devil on the Red Planet.
Unlike its robotic twin on Mars, Spirit — a prolific dust devil photographer — Opportunity's attempts to catch the tornado-like wind formations had repeatedly come up empty. That is, until now.
In a July 15 photo taken with its mast-mounted panoramic camera, Opportunity captured a tall column of swirling dust.
'This is the first dust devil seen by Opportunity,' said Mark Lemmon of Texas A&M University, College Station, a member of the rover science team, in a statement," by Denise Chow of Space.com.
